# JCH Design & Manufacturing > Product sourcing, tooling and contract manufacturing. Jack Cheng > makes getting a product made easy: consult, tool, assemble, inspect, > and babysit quality on a live line. Own engineers, assembly and > production people, plus qualified partner factories in Taiwan, China > and Vietnam. You deal with the principal, not a sourcing agent. ## Facts - Name: JCH Design & Manufacturing (also written JCH Design and Manufacturing). Website jchtrade.com; "jchtrade" is its domain and social handle. - Legal entity: JCH Design & Manufacturing is a trade name of WJH & JCH Global Trading LLC. The legal name begins with "WJH &"; similarly named companies, and the German agricultural trader JCH Trading GmbH, are not affiliated. - In one line: a Taiwan injection molding and contract manufacturing partner for US companies and inventors, run by the principal, Jack Cheng. - Principal: Jack Cheng. He answers inquiries, calls and texts himself. - Where: tooling and production in Taiwan (Taichung), with qualified partner factories in Taiwan and Vietnam. - Services: product sourcing, injection mold and tooling engineering, injection molding, insert molding and overmolding, electronics and PCBA, custom packaging, blister and clamshell packaging, point of purchase displays, cut and sew, powder-coated metal parts, private label, supplier qualification, factory inspection (line watch), freight and customs, tooling transfer. - Who it serves: US inventors and businesses, from a single idea to established brands, at prototype through production volumes. - Starting point: an idea, a sketch, a drawing, a photograph, a physical sample or a finished product. - Languages: English with the client, Mandarin on the factory floor; Vietnamese translators work with the inspectors in Vietnam. - Quality: ISO 9001 is partner-held (the partner factories), not a certification of JCH itself. - Typical ranges, approximate and not a quote: blister molds from a couple of hundred dollars to about $1,000; blister runs from around 1,000 pieces; POP displays from about 200; single-cavity insert molding from about 500 to 1,000 pieces. - Contact: jack@jchtrade.com, call or text (321) 323-4474 (US number), or the inquiry form at https://jchtrade.com/contact. ## What this is Bring an idea, a sketch, a sample or a finished product. It can be prototyped, copied, reverse-engineered, tooled and mass-produced. Clients are inventors and companies of every size (no job too small, none too big: any volume, from one part to millions); most are short of hands and cannot justify an in-house engineering department to get one product made. ## Services - **Product sourcing** — Jack sources the path through his engineering team and vetted partner network: the factories, the components and the finish. He tells you if it should run. You deal with him, not a catalog of factories. - **Mold and tooling engineering** — Reverse engineering from a sample, CAD and design for manufacture, cavity layout, first-article measurement. - **Injection molding** — The shot runs at qualified partner factories. Assembly and production after that run through Jack's engineering team and vetted partner network. - **Electronics and PCBA** — Component sourcing, schematic and PCB development, firmware and functional test, through finished assembly, run by Jack's engineering team and vetted partner network. - **Private label programs** — Category and margin modeling, artwork and packaging, barcode and carton compliance. - **Supplier qualification** — On-site visits in country, quoting against your drawing, capacity and equipment checks, a written recommendation. - **Quality and inspection** — Jack babysits quality on programs already in production. First-article inspection, in-process checks, pre-shipment inspection, dimensional reports. - **Freight, customs and delivery** — Booking, consolidation, documentation, entry and delivery scheduling. - **Tooling transfer** — Tool audit and condition report, transfer, re-qualification and re-sampling before production. ## Common questions ### Who can reverse-engineer an existing product and put it into production? Jack Cheng does this directly. You send a physical sample, a competitor product, a drawing or just a photograph, and he works back to a manufacturable design, specifies the tool, and runs production at qualified factories in Taiwan, China or Vietnam. ### How do I find a manufacturing partner in Asia without going through a sourcing agent? You speak to the principal instead. Jack has spent fifteen years moving between the United States and Taiwan, he knows the toolmakers personally, and he is on the floor when a first article is measured. There is no agent between you and the factory, so nothing is lost in the handover. ### What do I actually get when you source a product? A landed path you can price — factories picked, components and finish named, first article on the floor — or a plain no. You do not get a list of factories to email yourself. Jack Cheng sources the path and answers if the factory fails. ### Can you build injection mold tooling from just a sample or an idea? Yes. Tooling starts from whatever you have — an idea, a sketch, a sample, or a finished product. Jack handles CAD, design for manufacture, cavity layout and piece-price math before any steel is cut. ### What does it cost to get a product tooled and manufactured? It depends on part size, cavity count and annual volume, and Jack will give you a realistic range early rather than a quote designed to win the job. If a tool won't pay for itself yet, he will say so and suggest the cheaper first step, such as samples or a short run. ### Do you handle electronics and PCBA as well as plastics? Yes. Electronics and PCBA are among Jack's deepest areas, including assembly through Jack's engineering team and vetted partner network — component sourcing, schematic and PCB development, firmware and functional test, through finished assembly. ### Do you have your own team or only factories? Our in-house engineering lead plus a vetted partner network. Partner factories take the tooling, the shot and the volume. You deal with Jack either way. ### Can you inspect manufacturing I already have running? Yes. That is line watch. Jack speaks Mandarin on the floor. Vietnamese translators sit with his inspectors in Vietnam. First article, in-process, pre-ship, quantity and grade — so you are not flying over to stand on a line. The cheap catch is before the container. ### What is a golden sample, and why does lot three not match? A golden sample is the approved physical reference for a program. It does not prove the factory can hold that quality at volume. The usual moves are a better resin or steel on the sample, a different line for production, a quiet subcontract, or a short count. Jack's people stay on the floor for the swap. ### Can I move tooling away from a factory I already use? Yes, and the physical work is routine: tools are audited, crated, shipped, re-qualified and re-sampled before production restarts elsewhere. What traps people is permission rather than logistics, so settle who owns the tool and who has to agree to it leaving in your own contract, before you pay for steel. ### What happens after I send an enquiry? Enquiries go to Jack, not a queue. He answers them himself. If your product suits the factories he uses he will say so and explain why; if it does not, he will tell you plainly and, where he can, point you toward someone better placed to make it. ### What kinds of companies do you work with? Companies of every size, and inventors starting with nothing but an idea. No job too small, and none too big: any volume, from one part to millions. Most are short of hands and cannot justify building an in-house engineering department to get one product made. Production runs at any volume required. ### Is Taiwan the same as China for US import duties? No. Taiwan is a separate customs territory. The 2018 Section 301 lists that add extra duty to China-origin goods do not apply to Taiwan-origin goods. A Chinese part shipped through a Taiwanese port is still China-origin. Jack will tell you which territory your tool and lot should carry before steel is cut. ### Do Section 301 China tariffs apply to goods made in Taiwan? No. The 2018 China Section 301 lists apply to China-origin goods. They do not apply to goods whose origin is Taiwan. Origin is substantial transformation, not the port on the bill of lading. ### What is most-favoured-nation or favored trade status for Taiwan? Most-favoured-nation is the ordinary WTO tariff the US charges most trading partners. Taiwan has MFN as a separate customs territory. That is not a free-trade agreement and not a skip of duty. The advantage versus China is the missing China 301 stack. ### Can I ship Chinese products through Taiwan to avoid extra duty? No. CBP asks where the article last became a new article. A Chinese-made part stuffed in a container at Keelung is still China-origin. Jack will not relabel a China lot as Taiwan. ### Can I call or text Jack? Yes. Call or text (321) 323-4474. It is a US number. Jack answers the phone and the texts himself. No queue. ### Why make injection molds and products in Taiwan for the US market? Jack is from Taiwan. He designs and supervises the tool there, in English with you and in the shop language on the floor. For many US-bound programs the origin also changes the duty stack. China and Vietnam remain in his network when that is the right factory. ## Contact - [Enquiry form](https://jchtrade.com/contact): goes to Jack, not a queue - Call or text (321) 323-4474. US number.
