The Second-Source RFQ Checklist.

What to send a Taiwan manufacturer to get an accurate quote the first time: files, quantities, material, finish, packaging, target price, timeline, compliance and inspection, on three printable pages.

Your current factory knows things about your part that were never written down. A second source knows none of it, and quotes from what you send. Tick what you have; anything you can’t tick yet is a question the factory will ask anyway.

What is inside

Six sections, one package.

Each item is a box to tick, with one line on why the factory needs it.

  • FilesSTEP (or IGES) for the 3D geometry, a toleranced 2D drawing as PDF plus DWG or DXF, one revision everywhere, photos and a sample of the current part, and a bill of materials for assemblies.
  • QuantitiesThe first order, a realistic annual volume, and two or three price breaks, so you can see where the piece price steps down and which cavity count makes sense.
  • Material & finishMaterial grade, a Pantone or RAL color with a physical chip, gloss and texture for each visible face, and every secondary operation with its artwork.
  • PackagingUnit pack, master carton, barcodes and Amazon labels, country of origin marking, transit testing and pallet requirements.
  • Price & timelineYour target price, the Incoterm the price is on, the current price if you are second-sourcing, and which dates are fixed.
  • Compliance & inspectionWhere it sells, RoHS, REACH and Prop 65, product-specific rules, the documents you need back, first article, sampling plan and defect list.

Moving a running part? Send the current price, the last inspection report and a production sample, so the new factory quotes against a proven part. If the tooling already exists, say who owns it, the cavity count and the steel.

Why a direct download

No form in front of it.

The checklist is free and there is no sign-up. The quote form goes to Jack himself. Send what you have: a photograph, a sample or a sketch is enough to start, and quoting a part against a drawing costs nothing.

Questions

What buyers ask first.

What should I send a factory to get an accurate quote?

A 3D file (STEP), a 2D drawing with tolerances, real quantities with price breaks, the material, color and finish, packaging requirements, a target price and dates, the markets it sells in, and how lots will be inspected. The checklist walks through each one.

Do I need a finished drawing before I ask Jack for a quote?

No. A photograph, a sample or a sketch is enough to start the conversation. The checklist shows what the factory will need before it can give a firm number, so the gaps get filled early.

Is the checklist free, and do I have to sign up?

It is free, and there is no sign-up. The PDF downloads directly. If you want Jack to look at your part, use the quote form.

Is this legal or compliance advice?

No. It is a practical checklist. Confirm duties with a licensed customs broker and product requirements with a qualified test lab.
